Raised between Ireland and Spain, Charles became a successful businessman and entrepreneur at the early age of twenty-one. In 2008 with the economic crisis he lost everything, which meant he had to refocus his life. Ready for a new start and a different approach to his career, he decided to embark in something he truly loved and turn it into something he could live on and enjoy; the only answer he could find was painting.
Without an oil painting sold he began to take an interest on his friends’ tattoos. This alone started Charles on a journey that changed his life! Since starting in 2008, Charles has received over 53 Internationally Renowned Prizes & Awards for excellence in his field of work from some of the most important, prestigious industry events, Tattoo Conventions or Tattoo Festivals worldwide.
The past years Charles has been called by other artists to speak at tattoo events and give seminars about innovative tattooing techniques he has developed. Only well-established artists are allowed to attend, having to prove their skills by sending their portfolios to obtain approval to attend. Currently, people travel from all over the world just to attend his seminars.
Charles Huurman has tattooed in the best tattoo studios around the world, including Ami James' Love-Hate (Ireland), Freedom Tattoo (Hong Kong), Utopian Tattoo Tribe (Ireland and Spain), Soul Addiction (Ireland) and Andy Engel Tattoo (Germany) and is now currently based at Inkology in New York City since receiving his O-1 Visa through Super Nova Artists.

Today, Steve continues to expand his artistry past boundaries, the results of which can only be seen to be believed, a style of tattooing know as hyper-realism; a category of tattoo art characterized by the depiction of real life and photo-realism. As a result of his popular style of tattooing, Steve’s work has been featured on ESPN, CBS, CBC, USA Today, Bleacher Report, VICE and many other well noted media outlets.
